Callaway’s new Elyte Fairway Wood has burst onto the scene, boasting higher ball speed and forgiveness across the entire hitting area.

Callaway Elyte Fairway Wood Features

Callaway has always been an innovator in golf club technology, and the Elyte Fairway Wood is no exception.

This club has a lot of tech, including a new AI-designed face, Tungsten Speed Wave, and Step Sole Design.

Tungsten Speed Wave

The new Speed Wave is a 35-gram weight along the rear of the club head that helps lower CG while promoting faster, more efficient ball speed and flight.

It also works hard to enhance the performance of shots that impact low on the face of the Elyte fairway wood.

New Step Sole

Callaway wanted to improve turf interaction, so they designed the Step Sole to clean up efficiency and improve contact along the sweet spot.

The new Step Sole reduces skidding along the turf, helping golfers get smoother entry to the golf ball. The redesigned sole comes with the success of Apex UW to improve overall performance.

Ai 10x Face

Offering more forgiveness than any other previous Callaway fairway wood, the company has utilized artificial intelligence to increase the control points on the face of the Elyte fairway.

The new face keeps ball speeds high while improving consistency on off-center strikes. The Ai 10x Face works with the C300 Face cup to raise launch and tighten dispersion.

Looks

At address, the Elyte carries over the appearance of the Paradym Ai Smoke. The crown and face are once again two separate pieces with the Callaway logo at the center of the face.

The face looks darker than the crown, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Both pieces work well together, and with the name “Elyte” close to the hosel, you have a rather clean, appealing appearance when standing over the golf ball.

We aren’t crazy about the mechanical look of the sole of the club. The black and silver V behind the face with a line of green along the perimeter isn’t the most appealing club design. 

As we’ve said before, the club strays close to the line of the Epic series with the green, silver, and black.

So, while we wish there were different colors with the Elyte fairway wood, it does present a modern appearance that fits in well with other 2025 fairway woods.

Sound

As we stated in our Callaway Elyte Driver review, we love its sound at impact. It’s loud and brash and sounds like a cannon going off. 

However, this series’s fairway woods have a somewhat muted sound compared to the others. They still deliver a pure, hearty smack as the ball contacts the face, which is certainly pleasing to the ear.

That said, we certainly feel there’s a crispness at impact to the Elyte that you don’t really get from other comparable fairway woods.

Even on off-center strikes or impact low on the face, you still get that clean, sharp impact sound that signals a well-made golf club.

Feel

When it comes to feel, there’s a real dynamic responsiveness to all of the Elyte fairway woods, especially this specific standard model. 

Since the club head is so stable and carries such high MOI, the feel is firm yet buttery. 

There’s no twisting with the Elyte fairway as you might find with other fairway woods. The face stays remarkably square throughout the impact zone, adding to the pure, smooth feel.

After our indoor and outdoor sessions, we agreed the Elyte Fairway provides a superb feel that’s easy.

The ball jumps off the face with a smooth responsiveness that is addictive for casual and serious players.

Performance

For our testing, we used the Callaway Elyte Fairway 3-wood with a 15-degree loft and a stiff Project X Denali Charcoal 50 graphite shaft.

Once we got the wood into our indoor simulator, we immediately enjoyed how insanely smooth, light, and agile this golf club is throughout the swing.

With the weight moved forward toward the face, the Elyte is much more stable and forgiving when compared to last year’s Paradym Ai Smoke model.

There’s a lightness with the Elyte Fairway that’s not present with the Ai Smoke edition, which certainly offers a stronger feeling on the downswing.

We also noted that the Elyte moves far more cleanly through the turf than last year’s Callaway fairway wood.

Launching off the face is relatively easy, delivering a high flight. Dispersion is tight on strikes off the toe with high ball speed.

The loft sleeve provides nice adjustability for loft and lie to help customize the shot shape.

If you are looking for a fairway wood you can use off the tee box to hit the fairway with more frequency, the Elyte Fairway is one of the best options on the market today.

Great for mid handicappers, the Elyte Fairway offers a significant jump for Callaway when it comes to boosting distance with effortless power.

Our Verdict

Much like the Elyte driver, the fairway wood from this series delivers hot ball speed, lightning-fast swing speed, and distance that rivals some low-grade drivers, with a low profile that gets the ball in the air quickly and with a low-to-mid spin.

Forgiveness was rated high during our testing, making the club even more appealing for golfers who suffer from inconsistent contact.

If you are struggling with a slice, there are better options from the Elyte fairway line, such as the Max Fast. But for most golfers carrying a handicap under 15, the standard model is the one for you.

We recommend the Elyte Fairway Wood for mid handicappers looking to upgrade their equipment and gain even more yardage from the tee and short grass to help lower their scores.
