TaylorMade Qi35 Driver Review (Our Feedback After Testing)

TaylorMade has moved away from its popular Stealth driver series with the introduction of the Qi drivers. 

Their latest, the Qi35, just debuted on the market to rave reviews and even an endorsement from Tiger Woods, who just carried one in his bag at the recent TGL event.

Although it doesn’t carry a ton of adjustable features, the Qi35 does offer some modern bells and whistles that will appeal to golfers of all skill levels.

For this TaylorMade Qi35 Driver review, we’ll take a deep dive into the new club, discuss its features and benefits, plus provide our honest reaction after taking this dynamic driver out for a spin on the links.

TaylorMade Qi35 Driver Features

Multi-Material Construction

The Taylormade Qi35 driver utilizes ultra-lightweight components to create a powerful yet agile head through the impact zone. This helps golfers achieve an exceptional feel with powerful exit velocity. 

The driver utilizes a mix of chromium carbon, steel, aluminum, tungsten, and titanium to create strength where you need it along the face with a sleek, aerodynamic head shape that reduces drag to boost swing speed.

Trajectory Adjustment System

Instead of a sliding weight, the Qi35 carries two weights along the sole: one behind the face and one at the rear of the club head.

The weights can swap positions to create greater trajectory influence.

The company claims with the heavier weight positioned in the back, dispersion is over 10% tighter, but with the weight behind the face, golfers can get five yards of additional distance.

High Inertia Shape

The high MOI head offers a host of adjustability features, including Twist Face Technology, which minimizes side spin, and a Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, which adds flexibility to the hitting area for greater energy transfer at impact.

The 4° loft sleeve helps with workability, while the Infinity Carbon Crown adds ball speed and an easy launch after impact.

Looks

While we still love the Stealth series’ color scheme, we must admit that the Qi35 keeps the shenanigans to a minimum. Instead, it presents a sharp, sleek look that holds its own in the golf bag.

The crown offers a modern appearance at address that won’t distract. It offers confidence with a nice white alignment logo to help you center the golf ball along the hitting area.

The lack of sliding weight helps keep the look uniform throughout the Qi35 series, and it certainly doesn’t project a distracting clunkiness like with Callaway’s Elyte series and the rear of its club head.

Sound

When it comes to sound in 2025, the bar has been set by the Elyte driver. The new Callaway Elyte driver has called back to older driver models of the mid-2000s that sound like a shotgun going off at impact. 

Sadly, the Qi35 sounds much thinner than the Elyte, but for golfers who don’t care about sound at all, this driver won’t hurt your ears or cause you to brace for the noise at impact.

We suspect the multi-material construction dampens the sound. However, the Twist Face Technology also dramatically minimizes the decibel level with the Qi35 driver.

Feel

The Qi35 standard driver doesn’t offer the lightweight feel of the Qi35 Max and Max Lite, but it does provide a sturdier and firmer feel in the hands that certainly instilled confidence over time with the club.

The feel at impact remains pure, even if you struggle with inconsistent contact. For balls offer the sweet spot. The feel is as smooth as any driver we’ve ever tested.

If you hold a high swing speed, you’ll find the driver remains steady in your hands throughout the takeaway and downswing with minimal whip or flimsiness. 

Performance

Starting with swings on the Trackman, the spin rate stayed relatively consistent at around 2700 RPM.

We tested the Mitsubishi Diamana T+ 60 stiff shaft, and it certainly offered a nice feel and exceptional power on the downswing.

We’d undoubtedly characterize spin rate as low-to-mid considering these numbers. 

It’s also worth noting that TaylorMade offers the Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft, which weighs 50 grams if you want a lighter shaft.

Using the 10.5 loft model, the launch angle stayed relatively firm at 16-17 degrees, helping us get the most carry distance possible with each swing.

Rollout stayed consistent, even when we moved outdoors, helping add 7-10 yards of length to each drive.

Once we started hitting balls outdoors, we tested the Qi35’s workability.

While we like having a sliding weight to add more correction, the Qi35 meets expectations for golfers who want a neutral setting they can manipulate.

The TaylorMade Qi35 improves upon the Qi10 with more distance from a variety of spots on the face.

Simply put, golfers get more distance on off-center strikes with the Qi35 driver, a feature that mid-to-high handicappers can certainly benefit from with their long distance game.

Our Verdict

We had lofty expectations for the Taylormade Qi35 Driver, and we’re pleased to report that it met and exceeded those expectations in many important ways.

From tighter dispersion to exceptional forgiveness, the ball flight offers the predictability that a good driver can provide.

And although we’d like some sliding weight with the standard model to help with shot shape, the 4-degree loft sleeve really works its magic when it comes to tamping down the launch angle.

If you find yourself hitting the ball too high at times, the Qi35 offers several settings to temper those jumps off the club face.

A superb driver, the Qi35 offers a great entry into tour-inspired woods that will definitely help you get better off the tee box.
